EARLY ACCESS TIPS

20 Essential Subnautica 2 Tips

Things we wish we knew before starting. These tips will save you hours of frustration and help you progress faster in Early Access.

Survival

  • 1.Bladderfish are your best friend early game - catch them for filtered water
  • 2.Cooked food spoils slower than raw food. Cook immediately after catching
  • 3.Keep 2+ Medkits in your inventory at all times. Predators hit harder in deeper biomes
  • 4.Oxygen is life. Always know your route back to surface before deep diving
  • 5.The Rebreather extends dive time significantly - craft it ASAP

Resources

  • 1.Titanium is everywhere in Safe Shallows - stockpile 50+ early
  • 2.Scanner Room finds resources automatically. Build one near your base
  • 3.Quartz is needed for glass - don't ignore those shiny crystals
  • 4.Silver is rare but critical. Check Kelp Forest at 80-120m depth
  • 5.Carry a spare Battery and Power Cell on every expedition

Base Building

  • 1.Build your first base in Safe Shallows near Twisty Bridges entrance
  • 2.Solar Panels only work during day - bring extra power for night operations
  • 3.Multipurpose Room + Hatch + Solar Panel = minimum viable base
  • 4.Build near multiple biomes for diverse resource access
  • 5.Reinforce walls after adding rooms - hull integrity matters

Exploration

  • 1.Follow the radio signals - they guide you to important story locations
  • 2.Seaglide is faster than swimming - craft one immediately
  • 3.Beacon markers are cheap - place them at every wreck and interesting spot
  • 4.Night diving is dangerous but some creatures only spawn after dark
  • 5.The deeper you go, the better the resources - but bring proper equipment

Common Early Game Mistakes

  • Don't build too deep early - oxygen limits make everything harder
  • Don't ignore the PDA radio messages - they contain critical story info
  • Don't waste Titanium on unnecessary rooms early game
  • Don't explore Crash Zone without Radiation Suit
  • Don't leave base without checking food/water levels
  • Don't forget to save frequently - crashes can happen in EA
